Xingqin Liu 劉興欽

Cartoonist, Inventor

Xingqin Liu is a well-known cartoonist and inventor in Taiwan. He graduated from National Taipei University of Education and an Honorary Doctor of Union University, Jackson, Tennessee. He moved from Taiwan to San Francisco in 1991.
Born in 1934 on the beautiful Island of Formosa, Xiangqin Liu brought art into classrooms as an elementary school teacher. Based on his keen observation and affection for his own mother, in 1958 he created the popular and beloved character of "Grand Auntie". Countless stories have been told since to a faithful following of young and old readers in Taiwan. Later he and Click Multimedia packaged the renowned series of Grand Auntie and Smarty in both English and Chinese for audiences in North America.
